Internal Wall & Loft Insualtion
Up to 35% of heat loss in a property is attributed to un-insulated walls. Insulating your solid walls could cut your heating fuel costs considerably, as solid walls lose heat dramatically. Due to the single structure of the wall, they can leak twice as much heat as a cavity wall.
Internal wall insulation (IWI) consists of a layer of insulating material installed behind a layer of plasterboard. IWI can take the form of a composite 'thermal board' or a built up system using insulation behind timber battens fixed behind conventional plasterboard. For both systems the surface of the wall is carefully prepared and all cracked or damaged plaster, repaired or removed. Bare brick work or block work is be pointed with mortar to eliminate air paths to the exterior. This system is suited if you would prefer not to change the look of the exterior of the building, or in conservation areas. We can assist you with funding towards this work through Government initiatives, such as the Energy Company Obligation and The Green Deal
